Got this lens earlier this week, and took it for a few quick test shots today. Not that I expect to use VR very often but it seems to function pretty well...
Why would you forego VR with this lens Only if using an exposure delay mode and M-up would I expect turning off the VR to make any noticeable improvement.
I mostly shoot BIF and at 1/2500” or faster shutter speeds and shooting at 12 fps, there is really no point in keeping the VR on.

The Red-throated Loon is rather rare in Quebec. It can be found on the northern shore of the Gulfe of the St. Lawrence river, about a ten-hour drive east of Quebec city. This is where I had the good fortune of taking these photographs. The morning mist and atmospherics at the surface of the water somewhat hindered sharpness, but I am still happy with the results.

For those not familiar with the famous Toronto raccoon, this cutie tore the cap off my roof vent, and spent a few days living in my attic with its family. C$500 is for the eviction. Roof repair is extra.
