If so, which size did you get? Medium or Large? Their selection list online does not yet include this lens or the HB-84 hood that comes with it. The lens diameter is 95mm so the hood would be slightly larger on the fat side. So I am not quite sure whether Medium or Large would be a better option.
I use these hoodies on all my long lenses, and I love them. I am now waiting for my copy of the 500/5.6 to arrive, and need to decide which size hoodie to order.
Holy S#!T!!!... This would be a dream shot for me. I really like both of these species, and images of them both, seen them in the same ponds but never seen them together.

Another one of our fledges from this year.
And yesterday Poof found 2 fledges caught in a batting cage at the local high school on her daily walk.
They'd gone in for a dove that was also trapped. I was sleeping so Poof called the police and fire department who had no interest. The wildlife resource agency only had an answering machine. So Poof wakes me up off I go to hold a Red-tailed Hawk for the first time-

Yup, that's going to be a nice combo, also the D500 and 500PF. We have so many choices right now, it's like being a kid in a candy store.
Question for group: anyone else finding 500/5.6 PF performs better on D850? I find it to be sharper and am having a hard time focusing and tracking BIF on D500. Criticism and comments appreciated.

I ordered the XL Hoodie from them... fits nicely, but needs to be stretched a bit to get over the lenscoat cover if you have one on your hood.
That answers my question. Thank you. And yes, I will use Lenscoat on my hood too, and stretching a bit should be OK and perhaps even desirable so it doesn't fall off easily. That is also the case with the hoodie on my 600 (XXXX-L size).

I initially only used it on my D850 just because I like using my D850. But the last few weeks I've been using it on my D500 and have found no differences between the two cameras.

Haven't shot it on the D850 but on the D500 it tracks better than anything else I've used. If you are having troubles you may want to review your settings and/or get your D500 checked out.
Getting restless. This is the first preorder I’ve ever made in 10 years of photography and I’ve probabl purchased less than 5 cameras or lenses brand new during that time. I did pick up a TC though while I’m waiting. How is the AF performance with TC14E III on D500? I’m hoping it’s good for static subjects or larger mammals and birds in flight.

Af is still pretty good, static in anything but dismal light is great. BIF is possible in good sun (I know these are D850 but D500 just as good or better)...

Thanks for sharing! These are just the type of images I’m hoping to capture with the combo.
Wow, those are some impressive shots with the TC. Had ruled out one entirely but maybe I should look into one for when I want a little extra reach. I assume the TC-14EIII is the one to go for?

These are stunning! Would you be able to post photos from your D500 of BIF? My D850 does get shots like the ones you’ve posted but my D500 is not the same. It’s seems softer and less detail. I have a harder time keeping the subject in frame on the D500. And, harder yet the faster they move.
For still subjects, I think my D850 produces sharper images than the D500.

I really am curious to see your comparison.
I don't have any BIF with the D500 and the 500PF with the 1.4TC on. I have a few with the bare lens. I have 100s of BIF with D500 and other lenses. I have mostly been using my D850 as I prefer its FOV versatility.
Here are a few with the bare lens...
