Have you used the Sigma Dock to adjust it, or are you using it generic, straight out of the box?
I have done some adjustment, mainly the custom mode for faster AF movements and some OIS change, I think it's accurate when it has properly gained focus.
But I'm not really looking tips how to use the lens I have tried to done my homework with that but if there's people who have changed/used both lenses Sigma 150-600mm and the Nikon 500mm f/5.6 PF and is it perhaps worth of buying the Nikon lens.

Understood ... just checking.
Although, it may still be a point of consideration to ensure that others (who's advice you're soliciting) had also tuned up their Siggy ... otherwise, it may not be a somewhat skewed comparison.
Hey Kapseli, I have been using the Sigma 150-600 S for many years with D610, D810 and D850 and I enjoy this lens, it has a nice zoom range and is not bad for sharpness but after getting 500 PF it is night and day for me, I can now shoot the 500 PF wide open and it's sharp with Sigma I really needed to stop it down to f8 to get good sharpness. I love 500pf for weight, size, sharpness, faster focus and features. I sold my Sigma right away and never looked back, the only thing that I sometimes miss is having the zoom at hand but I have gotten over that and it isn't much of a problem. Also I used the TC 1.4 III with the 500pf and it hard to tell the difference in sharpness from 500 to 700, it looks very good for 700mm you will get slower focus and loose one stop of light, it's a great lens.

Fabulous Geoff!
Eric
Thanks Eric...I'm fairly certain you were either 6 inches to my left or 6 inches to my right so I'm sure you have all these images also!!

I haven't seen many posts or conversations regarding lens flare with the 500PF. I read hypothesizes about flare & PF technology while waiting on the the lens.
I had a brief LF encounter last week. Anyone else?
Oh man, been following the thread and images here and really wanted one to go with my D500 (currently using a 200-500 which is nice, but this one seems out of this world for someone like me who wants low weight). Tried to get hold of one but the big retailer I talked to here had 19(!) people in line and said I might be able to get one early fall.
So off to google camera stores across Europe and damn if I didn't find a brick'n'mortar in Germany that claimed to have one. Contacted them and they said they do indeed have it there, was I interested? HELLS YEAH! So now one's on the way and I can't wait.
Here is a Red-tailed Hawk and a Green-winged Teal, photographed in the same urban park, along the St. Lawrence River. Flickr might give a more detailed rendering.
Not really, it may not be the best lens in terms of its handling of ghosting and flare but it's not the worst, either. The 300 PF has, in my experience, more problems with that.

I have the 300PF as well. To date, I have not experienced this on the 300.

I haven't encountered that so far. Was the hood on for that shot? Where was the sun angle?
Yes, the hood was on. I use hoods all the time, unless wind makes it impossible to steady the lens with the hood mounted.
If you consider the bird at "12:00" and the camera at "6:00" on a clock dial, the sun was pretty high in the sky (near mid day), at roughly "4:30 ~ 5:00". It was almost behind me, but slightly to my right. Does that make sense?

I have not seen this either so far. Is this a full frame (uncropped) image? If cropped, a strong reflection from some point on the fence, maybe?

That's a good point and question.
I believe it was cropped a bit. I'll have a look and follow-up with the uncropped version for reference.

Here's the uncropped version. I do not see anything on the fence that would reflect enough to create the flare. Perhaps something on the ground, out of view in the image......
I placed an order for the 500pf back in March from the mothership. When do you guys think I would get it?
Also, with the N7 discounted by $600, I am really tempted to spend another $4k on a body to go with the 500pf. I currently own a D7500 as an amateur photographer for the past 2 years and have used it a lot on my trips to 20 plus national parks. I am doing a 3month South America backpacking trip that includes the Amazon and Antarctica in October-December and I know I definitely need the 500pf for wildlife. My question is, should I upgrade to a full frame with 47mp to go with the 500pf or would the d7500 still serve me well with its extra DX range? Has anyone here tried the D7500 with the 500pf?

Z7 would certainly be nicer lightweight to travel with and FX is nice if you are photographing other things on the trip (landscapes, cities). But of course the D7500 would get the job done. 47MP gets very close to the D7500's "reach" as cropped to DX it has 19MP and the D7500 has 21MP...you don't lose much in pixels per area and you gain more versatility in the wider FOV and more pixels when you can use them.
