A9 from Cardinal/Greentoe. I waited a week, called and was told that the camera would ship in two days. So, they accept out of stock bids, which works out on items that are not back ordered. The A9 shipped in two days.

I have gone through GT about 10-12 times already with at least two or three of the transactions being with Cardinal and have never had any issues.
I can only echo what some others have stated like @GMPhotography. This is a very hot new item that clearly has a high initial demand vs supply issue. Logically speaking, I personally would anticipate delays considering the fact that people that have signed up to pay full price haven't all gotten theirs.
I will say though, that there could possibly be something (correspondence of some sort) done on the part of GT to keep people's expectations realistic when they get wind of shipment delays or foreseeable stock shortage as it may help to quell those that are eagerly anticipating receipt of their purchases.
Lastly, I'd like to say posts like these (with corresponding titles) are a bit unfair to the retailers and service providers as the great majority of us have had nothing but perfect experiences using them. The more productive approach (based less on emotion and more on reason) would be to start a thread with a less inflammatory title that was used to potentially provide suggestions on how they could improve their services or areas of deficiency as opposed to simply informing others never to use them.
Side note - GT has actually previously reached out to me (on several occasions now) to request more detailed feedback/suggestions (and not just in a pre-canned kind of way) which to me, exhibits a willingness to hear their consumers out.

Bad experiences suck. We all have them. But only a pattern will sway people from businesses. I found a hair in a McChicken once, told everybody, but somehow McDonald's lives on.

I can echo the many reviews of Greentoe on here. I recently purchased a brand new A7RIII from them (from Procam) and have nothing but great things to say. No doubt your experience with Cardinal was frustrating but I think this is not the norm for Greentoe retailers. I will not hesitate to use GT in the future. They saved me hundreds of dollars and shipping was super fast.

True and indeed I dont normally judge a company based on one bad experience unless it is REALLY bad but in this case, there were several things going on, more importantly, deceiving information to make a sell. That is automatic deal breaker for me.

It would be useful for Greentoe to track each vendors time between acceptance and pickup from vendors location. This information would then be provided with the counter offer and before the vendor's name was revealed, or counter/offer acceptance.
Of course, this would probably result in all of us having to pay a bit more on items not commonly stocked, or in high demand.

I'de use Greentoe for matured products, forget about new releases, it's probably a conflict of interest many times. Companies want to make money on hot items, so they sell first for full retail if they could, who wouldnt? Once initial demand mellows out, they fullfill the bids.
I wouldnt dock either greentoe or cardinal camera, it's just realistic expectations.
To summarize my situation, no one ever told me the item was backordered. Greentoe provided the excuse that it was caused by a long holiday that occurred when I accepted the offer, but the retailer NEVER told me even after re-opening from the holiday that is was backordered, and they still sent me an invoice. Greentoe's communication is abysmal, and so is their user interface (prevent companies from doing this to your customers!)

I just went through the same thing with Cardinal Camera through Greentoe. For me it was a great deal on a 70-200/4 FE....After 2 weeks of no communication, then it went on backorder.. I cancelled my order...(at least i got my $ back)

And keep up.....But they don't charge your credit card until the item ships. Through Greentoe you get charged instantly no matter if the item doesn't ship for months.....so...

I got a Sony 100-400 through Greentoe/Cardinal, I was told by Greentoe before accepting the offer that there was a stock delay. Only ended up waiting a week or two.

I disagree.
Greentoe is actually very chatty. I've ordered my A7RII, Canon 5Ds, Nikon 105 1.4, and A9 without any issues. They get back to you in a respectable amount of time. Sometimes their CEO even follows up on you.

I don't have any problem with a store selling a back-ordered item, I DO have a problem with not being told in a timely manor that it is back-ordered so I can make other arrangements if a deadline is not going to be met.

Beware that some of the commenters here are from Greentoe/Cardinal.
I don't think I expected FAST or IMMEDIATE delivery. My expectation was:
1. for queries to be responded within 1 week
2. for my item to be delivered within 1 month and if there are delays, tell me in ADVANCE instead of going radio silent on me!

marthagirl - please name which commenters are from green toe/cardinal?
That is quite the accusation...if someone is commenting here without disclosure of such affiliation, I don’t think they deserve to have that aspect of their privacy respected. Please reveal the green toe/cardinal moles in our midst!

Purchased a Sony 90mm FE lens through GT/Cardinal and payment was processed. After a day, I look at the seller's notes on GT and it says "DO NOT SHIP - REFUND". Gee, it would have been helpful to get a call/email
