So, first off, I tested Joshua's lens for centering and lucky it was well-centered.
About the lenses: Physically, they are equally long and the Batis is a bit lighter (only 40g). The Loxia is much skinnier though. :-)
I had a chance to test them at infinity even though lighting was not perfect. It's a bit flat from a cloudy day.
Still, it's possible to compare resolution and contrast between these two lenses. As I thought, the Loxia has the edge in micro-contrast and resolution. The Batis did very well but for landscapes, I would prefer the Loxia.
Both lenses were manually focused at infinity distance (best of 3 for each one). No other settings expect for "vignetting" correction and "sharpening" for both lenses.
Here are the crops:
PS: The f/2.4 comparison was done with the Batis at f/2.5. Keep in mind that for these first crops at f/2.4, the Loxia was wide-open.
f/2.4 (center)
f/2.4 (mid-zone)
f/2.4 (extreme edge)
