Bob I NEED the a6500 just with the FZ battery, the joystick, and maybe 30mpx and Sony can

Sign me up if it is in an A7/9 body....if it is in the A6500 body, I'd probably pass....though to get the new battery in it will probably have to be in a larger body.
Or even better make me an A9R with 47MPs at 20FPS, blackout free, silent electronic shutter with no distortion......heck I'll even "settle" for 15FPS
47mpx! Now that would be pixel dense on a cropper! I think current a6500 is 30% more pixel rich than A7Riii and you're wanting to double that, wow. Hey I'd give it the whirl. arbitrage wrote:

I had the 2.0x along with the 1.4x and sold it when I just had the 70200GM.
I read good things when I got my 100400GM and got another one and find the 2x to be excellent and highly recommend it.
It would be interesting to know why it does not perform as well on the 70200GM?
I hope it works at least as good on the rumored 200600GM and the Sony 135 1.8 that is coming out and that we will be able to use the TC's and have them work very well on the 135.
I hope the rumored 200-600 is real and accepts the TCs :-)
Robert. I believe Arbitrage meant 47MP on an A9R. I'd get one in an instant if it was as fast as the A9. Basically, a camera with the advantages of the A7Riii rolled up with the advantages of the A9!!
200-600 rumored yes but GM The GM part is a new rumor to me. Personally I doubt the GM part. The 200-600 more to compete with the Siggies and Tammy's and the Nikkor 200-500 and thus will be G at best and even more likely not even G to keep in the aforementioned lenses' price range. Still might take the TCs though but no breath holding on that. More,it will be announced with the a7000 My crystal ball is getting hot must put it down now.

No, 47MPs on A9R full frame...or a few more to equal a 24MP cropper (I guess that would be 54MPs)....would allow FF field of view to track things better but if reach limited give you way more pixels than current A9. Basically a D850 but in a mirrorless with A9 (or newer) tech.

While 10fps with the A7R3 is enough for me, if they bumped the MP up some, I have to admit I'd be tempted by such a camera...even though I told myself the A7R3 is all the camera I'll need for awhile.
Also, I'd hope that more emphasis would be put on weather sealing etc. Make it a camera that even the most die-hard Canon/Nikon user would be tempted by for sports work.
A9II is what I'm waiting to hear about. Would like to see a res increase but more important is improved ergonomics and build. Physically larger, more room for big glass around the mount and grip, 30-36MP, increased DR, 24fps, massively increased CDAF points like A7R3, even higher res EVF and rear LCD, top LCD. And 400/500/600 f/4, 150/200-500/600 f/5.6 ready in 2019 at latest.

I just saw an A9 selling below 3K at the buy and sell board. Perhaps it's a good time to get one. It's not 30MP but I doubt you will notice any difference between 24 and 30MP.
24fps? Really?

It'd be nice if it wasn't a GM strictly from a price consideration. The 85mmf1.8 isn't, and it's a wonderful lens and price point. I'd love to see a 200-600.
After shooting at 20FPS, I don’t think we need anymore than that. Even at 20 I’m getting way to many duplicate shots. Also this ain’t a 7D2, the AF is so consistent I don’t need hundreds of “insurance “ shots.

I agree and think the FPS race is over. It's almost standard video frame rate. Now, we can start increasing resolution while keeping the same frame rate. (20fps)
Scott, spot on. The 85/1.8 is a gift from Sony. Not everyone makes money with photography or portraiture but still wants this FL in the bag. I feel same about the 28/2. scott f wrote:

Other than trying 20fps, I always use 10fps, or less with field sports & 100-400mm/1.4TC. For this purpose 24 MPix works for me and I value the A9 AF, electronic shutter and no blackout. I'm hoping to see improved low iso performance with the A9ii. This would allow for better f/11 and fast shutter speeds. Currently using f/11 with the 1.4TC sharpens things a bit, but iso and shutter speed suffer. I'll take a look at the 2.0TC after the next body cycle.

As far as the Sony 2xTC goes, seems proven to be a very good 2X TC. From some other examples listed in this thread, the 2xTC performs well on a crop sensor too.
