This is the route I will take until there is an outstanding native 28mm in the market (Voigtlander or Zeiss)
CV12, CV15, Lox21, Lox25, CV40, CV65 (Mix of CV and Loxia lenses)
When only taking a few lenses, probably: CV15, Lox25, CV40, ZM85.
What would you do if there *was* a good 28 available?

I would replace my Lox 25 with it as I prefer the 21 and 28 focal lengths. This 25mm is growing on me though.

I'm doing the same less the CV12 and ZM85. The CV65 screwed up my planning - fell in love with the lens so I had to make room. I plan to end up with:

How well 25mm does with people? If you give enough distance, it's a great environment portrait lens.
Not many samples yet but here is a couple when taking the kids for a walk at the beach yesterday:

24/25 has always been my go to focal length so it's great to finally have an excellent native option on Sony. I shot the coast for a week using a light weight kit comprising Batis 18, Loxia 21, and Loxia 25, and found myself not wanting anything else in terms of focal length (or IQ). On the water's edge changing camera position is often not a viable option, and I find the FOV difference between 21 and 25 substantial. I will definitely be keeping both Loxias.

One more. I had to refinish my pool deck. Took 11 gallons of special paint and had to fix the interior of the pool itself. Contractor 3500. Guy 1100 and I got a power washer out of the deal. Equals one Loxia 25mm lens plus change.

I don't mind carrying both but personally find 28mm more useful having the Lox 21. Perhaps that was Zeiss plan all along and many will end up with 21, 25 and 28mm.
BTW: Thanks for your tests. Great resource for those wanting to learn about this lens.

I am already going to agree with Fred. Not sure there is a better 24/25 out there
BTW Thanks to Fred as he had two 25mm, tested both and sold me one of them. Thanks bud you know how critical i am.
Great samples guy. I'm glad you are already enjoying it. I have shot with many 25mm lenses in the past including the superb Zeiss 25/2 ZE and natively the Batis 25/2. This Loxia seems to be a step above, especially at infinity distance.
I've never tried the Milvus 25/1.4 but i don't believe it will be much better than this. Perhaps the main difference would be lower field curvature at wider apertures since it has a floating elements system.

I did not post my infinity quickies but they look awesome. I値l get some real shots in the next couple days. My infinity spot is almost right in the middle of the symbol . I値l do Big Bronco in morning if good weather

Are you sure that much? I thought it was just a slight tad before the hard stop but we are testing it on different bodies and there could be variation.
Only Big Bronco will tell.

The Milvus 25/1.4 is definitely the better lens. It has flatter field curvature, less vignetting, less focus breathing, and seems slightly sharper especially in the middle of the image (for the single copies I compared). Some of those points are illustrated in the thread where I posted some Loxia 25 tests.
p.s. Fred, you are most welcome for those tests. Very happy to be able to provide some information back to a community that has been very helpful to me.

Yea. I値l double check it again no question but I do think from what we have talked about with other lenses folks seem to have different spots. Something we may have to look into at some point.

No question the Milvus will do better regarding vignetting and field curvature (FLE) but after f/4 I would be very surprised is resolution/contrast wouldn稚 be similar. We are lucky you have both lenses and tested this for us.
Considering the Milvus is about 3x heavier and almost twice as expensive, the Loxia pulled off a great feat.

Has anyone experienced a magenta color cast in the corners? My copy of the Loxia 25 has some. It reminds me of the artificial color you can get when trying to adapt some wide angle Leica lenses. It is not too strong but I see it.
Yes, I have seen it with my Loxia 21 on a7R II when taking pictures in snow and cranking up saturation a bit. I could try to post pictures but I failed a while ago using pictures in my Dropbox account (it should work with Dropbox, shouldn't it?). Maybe prepare an LCC in Capture One because of this? It felt a little annoying and I was also surprised to see it as I haven't seen any mentioning of it despite being a diligent forum lurker here...

I will check this today. Can you guys post some samples?
