The lens frontfocuses slightly, with eyeAf, face AF, or normal AF. No matter the af mode, it fails in AFC, AFS, AFA, DMF... except at 28mm. At 28 mm it works flawlessly, and AF works as it should, in every AF mode.
________
From what I read about front focusing, testing needs to be done at various focal lengths if one is testing a zoom lens. And it may be front or back focusing at one focal length but not necessarily at another. So if one makes an adjustment at a certain focal length that might affect the other focal lengths adversely. Also camera shake (even from breathing) can affect focusing. ...Show more →

Hi Dalite. Maybe I didn't explain it correctly.
I tested it in all focal lenghts, the one that works perfect is 28 mm, all other distances have front focus.
But I changed something. As user JMAN13 has posted here( https://admiringlight.com/blog/review-tamron-28-75mm-f-2-8-di-iii-rxd-sony-e-mount/) I switched af priority to "AF", instead of "balanced", and now it seems to work better in still mode. Not front focusing in the first tests, I have not tested well EYE AF (I have no victims now around me...)

I have to say, even though I read this thread before my 28-75 arrived, I was pretty surprised when reviewing photos of my 15 month old daughter today at how many shots were just out of focus. I then changed AF priority from balanced to AF and it helped a lot but I must say WOW. Despite knowing what everything was saying it the missed focus was worse than I though. I really hope the FW update comes soon and actually fixes this issue.

If you have AF issues (like I have), I learned a trick to get the AF to work in both Stills and Video modes. I've been testing this for 3 days now, every hour to make sure lol.
While camera is Off, switch the camera mode dial to a Stills mode position (I use M).
Turn camera On. It should work perfectly.
If you want to use Video mode, then simply just turn the camera mode dial to Video mode position (without turning Off camera). It should now work perfectly in Video mode too.
Apparently, the AF issues (for me at least), only occur if starting/turning-On/booting-On the camera while/if the camera mode dial is already on a Video mode position.
AF issues happen 100% of the time (for me at least), if starting/booting the camera while on Video mode dial position.
But, the total opposite happens, if starting/booting the camera while on Stills mode dial position - it works 100% of the time. Not a single AF issue occurring during my 3-day test (every hour).

Kind of had this issue with my Rokinon lenses where it would blow out the preview and not meter. Not exactly the same obviously but interesting. Wonder if it’s some kind of bug with 3rd party lenses. I have not shot it much except for some tests. I will in about two weeks where it will get a healthy dose of use. Like non stop. Lol
Hoping the firmware is out been more than a week or so.

I got side tracked with an almost month long trip, have returned and am looking at this lens---and quickly discovered it is nowhere to be had. Anyone know of a super secret stash hidden somewhere?

Brad let's see if Procam actually had it and will ship it.
I never trust until I feel the weight in my hand.
Then if/when it gets here I'll have to read the AF issues, I scanned the thread but it's looooooong and we're still recovering from an almost month long trip.
I did see Tam promises a firmware update....we'll see about that too.
In the meantime I've seen some awesome shots with this lens. I'm using the FE 24-105 and to me (amateur) it is a 10 star lens. I'll believe the youtube comparisons when I have both in hand.

Update.
I have a tracking number, the Tam28/75 is en route.
I just re-routed to be held at the closest (0.85mile) FedEx store.
Unless an exception occurs on the way should be here Thursday afternoon.
I'll be real curious about packing of the box for shipment. B&H had in my opinion gone downhill, Adorama started skimping too but Helen Oster jumped in and interceded and many of my last purchases were through Adorama....they just didn't have this lens at the moment. So Procam might be
a contender for the a7000 when it is announced tomorrow morning (yes, me wishful thinking).

Just picked it up at FedEx.
Also 1.0 firmware.
Spent 10 min's with the lens.
It is OK. It is not GM. It is not G.
I'd rank it kit lens+++.
One plus for 2.8.
One plus for size/weight.
One plus for a seal at the lens mount.
