I believe the reason is because phase detect AF is not compatible with this feature.

I have tried it on 2 A7iii, bought at different times, no luck.

And yes I m using AF-S not AF-C.
Just retested mine. Make sure the front switch on side of the trigger (next to the power on/off switch) is set to on. That controls the assist light on the trigger. So there are 4 separate settings, in 3 different places, that need to be enabled to get this working.

I have no problems enabling the AF assist light of the X1Ts on my A7RII.
My settings are:
--Camera menu :
AF illuminator: ‘Auto’
Focus mode : ‘AF-S’ or ‘AF-A’.
--X1Ts front switch : ON
--X1Ts custom settings :
- Fn 07 : ‘--‘ or ‘On’ (it makes no difference )
- Fn 10 : ‘01’
I have the latest firmwares on camera (4.01) and transmitter (V18), but I recall that the previous version of the X1Ts (V16) was OK as well.
