Last week I visited Algonquin Provincial Park for 2 days in the bitter cold. I spent time on various trails and at the Visitor Centre photographing these birds.




#1 Dark Eyed Junco






#2 Evening Grosbeak (Male)






#3 Red Crossbill (Male)






#4 Purple Finch (Male)






#5 Blue Jay in flight






#6 Whisky Jack, aka Grey Jay or Canada Jay






#7 Dark Eyed Junco






#8 Blue Jay

Fantastic set of winter birds especially 2,3,4 & 8. Love that evening grosbeak we don't see them here !

Just outstanding in every way. Love the grosbeak and crossbill. I see you are shooting Canon and Nikon? Favoring one system over the other and care to comment on capture, resolution, lenses, etc?

This is indeed spectacular! I can't even pick a favorite. This series shows finesse in capturing the birds!

This is a super set with great detail Jason. Of course, it's easier to get close when the birds are frozen. ~ Ron

Thanks Adam. I'm a Canon shooter who is tinkering with Nikon. I'm not planning to move away from Canon.

Thank you. To get the Blue Jay IF I resorted to manually focusing just behind a pile of seeds on the ground and hoped for the best as the birds flew in.
