Right, but on the A8 setting, there's an expansion (on the d500 anyway, no promises on the d850). You click it and you can enable/disable out of focus shutter release for the af-on button. I recommend disable.

In my notes for the D850 I mentioned to set A8 to OFF or disabling the shutter release so it is the same for the D850
