If I already have the Batis 18 do you think the Laowa 15 makes sense? I want you to tell me "no" so I don't have to annoy my wife by buying yet another lens...But be honest....

Damn you had to ask. Okay the 12-24 beat my Batis 18 right out of the gate in corners I sold my Batis 18 immediately. I hate manual focusing that lens. The Laowa focuses so nice and love the 15 mm look. If you like this 24-105 than gapping wise the 15,20/21 than zoom but having a 18 /24-105 is also good.
Here is what I would do buy or rent the Firin 20 test it against the Batis than get the 15 to compliment it. Try renting if you can. I have Tests on the Firin here in the forum and the 15 look for them. I’m seriously smitten by the 15

Thanks- comparing the two, at least with respect to their measurements, the Firin is a bit larger and heavier (as should be expected), but I think that having f/2 available would outweigh the advantages of the otherwise seriously impressive Loxia 21, for me- and the difference in price, whoa!
Roger at LR will do a comparison between the new Sony 24-105/4G against the Sigma and Canon versions. I think he will post it next week since there are issues with availability for this lens even for lens rentals.
I've owned the Sigma and Canon in the past and they never impressed me. IMO, the Sony is the better lens, especially wide open. Even though Roger didn't have the time to test this lens yet, I believe LR will agree with me because we both test it wide open and at infinity.
OMG. A lens that beat Big Bronco. At every focal length except 105 its outstanding wide open. At 105 f8 kills it in the corners. Im seriously impressed. Loading raws now

From your test, I remember the Firin was somewhat lower in overall contrast and micro-contrast as well.
I've seen images showing more ghosting flare with the Firin. Despite the higher price, I would definitely go for the Loxia 21, which is my opinion the best wide angle lens for the E-mount currently.

Yes little more flare and ghosting, contrast yes a slight edge to the Loxia. Color and such very good though. Its a tough call they are both good but if your into saving money the Firin is a nice choice but yes overall the Loxia is better. Agree for sure
Looks to me and this is very critical 29mm and 50mm are the best focal lengths in the corners wide open. Just found my two missing lenses the 28/50. IM BUYING
I need to recheck, but I don't think my new 24-105 is as sharp in the corners as yours Would you agree based on the pictures I posted earlier?
Regarding the previous discussion re: the Batis 18 vs. buying a new Laowa 15 for my "travel kit"....the Batis has one tiny advantage for me (personally). The Batis has the same filter size (77mm) at the Sony 24-105.
