Anyone using this lens with an A7rii? Wondering about focus-hunting.
Should have the lens tomorrow and will check it out. I have the II and the III.
I hope it is as sharp as what I have read with good color contrast. I have wanted this length for a long time but held off as I wasn't totally impressed with the 1st Canon version and the second, well I had plenty of coverage but now would like a native lens for the Sony since I have none.
I just put in an oder. It doesn't seem to have a lot of character, which I prefer in my glass, but it should make for a great walk around/travel lens (pack this and a fast prime and spare battery, and you should be all set).

These look really good....mine is coming in from B&H today.
Did you get a UPS verification? B&H stated they sent mine and it is gone from their warehouse but UPS says they do not have it and B&H insists that UPS has it.
Got a nice sunset to put the 24-105 through its paces. Really liking this lens. As before, far better than my Canon 24-105 that I had been hesitant to part with. First shot viewed at 100% shows great sharpness across the frame. First and last at f/8 on tripod with remote trigger. Middle at f/22 handheld with OSS.

Mine was suppose to come from B&H yesterday but was not picked up in time by UPS to ship. Suppose to come this morning but we are in the middle of a big Nor’easter snow storm so I doubt I’ll see before Friday😩 I’m looking forward to comparing it to my 24-70 GM. I’d love to trade off the f/2.8 for the additional reach of the 24-105. But it has to be close to the optical performance of the GM at f/5.6-f/11 to make me switch.
Got mine from B&H yesterday evening. Not much to shoot yet, just tried in my family room in low light only shooting wide open so far. What I can say is this lens is CRISP AND CLEAR!
I had a 24-70 GM for two weeks and I can say that this new lens is def. sharper than that one was. Comparing to the 85 1.8...It doesn't seem to suffer much in terms of detail. The zoom operation is def. smoother than the GM one I had and the lens balances better. Still love lighter primes on the r3 body, but when you need instant versatility in fast paced sitituations, I think this will fill the bill. I was a proponent of the canon 24-105 and I think this lens will serve me very well. It seems esp. sharp at 24mm.

yea this is what i am after as well , a versatile lens in a fast paced event or environment . Plus it will be a fill in the gaps on some of my primes and maybe just maybe eliminate a overlap lens. Not selling my 40 1.2 or 85 1.8 but differently going to sell the 28 f2 and 50 1.8 as long as i have the fast 40mm 1.2 in the bag just to pull me out of a really dark situation . My loaner comes today so I will start working on testing it out. This week it will get a lot of low light work

Chuck -- Looking forward to your thoughts after it arrives and you take it for a spin or two!
What would you do if this turns out to be a “golden copy”?
Let us hope that it is first of many to come. Get a bunch of the fancy primes (50/1.4, 100 STF, etc) as well. GMPhotography wrote:
Loaner in hand . Very impressive with size and weight. Really like that a lot and looks to be very sharp.
Maybe I should start a test thread just on this lens that everyone can load test shots and such.
