I have a preorder in at a larger camera store. I am number 7 and they informed me that they got their cameras but not enough to fill my order. Apparently Sony isn't sending out as many as thought.

I saw this on Brian Smith's blog, so with a 2nd shipment on the way and a large 1st shipment it's likely that most people in the US won't have too long to wait if they are not in the 1st shipment
"One large retailer (who I cannot mention by name) confirms they have received a very large shipment today that should cover most of their pre-orders. Since this retailer does not charge pre-orders until the product is in stock, you may get confirmation that your camera is in stock once when you see that your order has processed. Availability date is still listed as November 30, which is quite likely required by Sony so that all retailers receive their allotments before any cameras are released. But once again, Sony a7R III cameras are in the USA!

If you can't remove the dust with an air blower, you're supposed to contact Sony service. If you touch the sensor and anything happens, you have no warranty (just like it points out in the link you posted...)

If you buy a new car and the manufacturer doesn't stipulate wax as being a necessity and the paint peels off due to contact with skin then at least in the UK it is the car manufacturer's fault, under the sale of goods act 1979 as the goods are not fit for purpose.
I refuse to accept that contact with human skin constitutes abuse of a camera.

Anyone in the US know of a dealer that will have the III to sell by the 30th? The one I preordered with and am low on the number seems to have gotten just a couple.

My store has them in hand but can't sell till Thursday. They didn't get their full order and won't be able to cover all pre orders. I'm the last on the list for the first shipment so I got super lucky.

Yes it did! When I see they charged my credit card it will hurt so good! Over at another forum couple of guys said another big dealer charged their cards today and are shipping tomorrow. Wish B&H would hurry and hit mine and ship tomorrow.

I chose not to pre-order early, as I was budgeting and planning some expenses, along with selling my R2. Looks like getting it on the first round is going to be tough.
I made an offer on greentoe. I received a reply saying if an offer is accepted the camera may not ship until the 1st-3rd week of December. I asked for some clarification to see if I made a better offer if they could connect me to a retailer to receive the camera earlier. Here is the response I received.
"retailers were expecting 100's of these from sony on the release date and are only getting a couple. Sony has dramatically under shipped. Right now we can only say sometime in the first 3 weeks of december."
Thanks to Greentoe for the excellent communication so far, though. I hope I didn't violate any rules by posting this as no retailers or offer $s were discussed.

I have my rental camera packed to go home.
On a side note I think I may have UPS hold at distribution center. I can see they are having trouble already. I have a new Raid array coming today and the tracking has not updated since 1 in the morning in Kansas. Hello my house is in Arizona. Your 1100 miles short boys.
Seriously this was really bad timing for Sony to release giving Black Friday and Cyber Monday the carriers are slammed this week.

Not to mention picking a Friday with the weekend delivery limitations etc. Still having a sad week waiting for news here
