Yes, this is very different from their usual thing. I think they shouldn’t have given it 90% and gold because its not exactly a high resolution speed demon that 850D is supposed to be.
Landscape lovers may think hard about getting it, but i think being the gearhead that we all are, everyone will get it. 😊
I can’t stop but wonder whether this is exactly the camera a7R2 was supposed to be, and should have been.

Are we talking about the same camera? For what is worth 90% was easily deserved with all the improvements over the already great A7Rii.

Well not sure if there's anyone in the UK on here but seems to be stock coming fairly quickly.
I pre-ordered and had one in the first batch a week ago but cancelled, re-ordered yesterday and got an email this evening to say its in stock! Woo!!
Couple of things though, will be looking to add an L-Grip and Screen protector, I assume protector wise that an A9 or A7rii one should fit?
Also on L-Grips are they bespoke or would an A9 one fit?

I just looked at my order from BH for the 24-105 lens, and it said "Backordered." I was late getting the preorder in as I was not completely sold at first, so it looks like I missed the first shipment.
I hope the second comes soon.

Update on lens:
For anyone who ordered the lens I just talked to BH and the lens shipment has been delayed to December 6. It's a large shipment and even though I did not put in a preorder until Nov. 20 I will be on it. So if you preordered the lens it will almost certainly come on Nov. 7 or so, unless there is another delay from Sony.

It’s progress. Good solid progress. It wasn’t that long ago that flagship DSLRs with only 10 stops of DR and only 12Mpix were lucky to shoot at 10 FPS. Now we have that speed at 42Mpix with 15 stops of DR. You think the Nikon is better? I think you’re not fully appreciating the merits of mirrorless, but that’s up to you. By any measure this is a killer camera and undisputably the best all-around mirrorless camera ever made and therefore, in my not so humble opinion, the best all-around camera body. Period.

Coming from an A7RII owner, the A7RIII seems like a gap-fill measure to cover the holiday spending spree and counter the excellent Nikon D850. As a landscape shooter, there is not much reason to upgrade. Instead, they
took away the PlayMemories apps and didn't build anything similar into the camera. Worse, their headlines of better dynamic range and IQ seem to be mostly marketing ploys. The next upgrade (A7RIV/A9R or whatever) will be what this one should have been.

What we don’t know If even if that tech is available now that keeps the cost into the market segment. Sure they could build almost anything but if it’s out of buyers range because of costs than it’s not a feasible product to market yet. Like Medium format it’s a upgrade path into a big black hole. Either you jump in the mix or you wait it out. I personally can’t even wait the 8 days until this one ships. I just have no patience on waiting.

Gap-fill? "not much reason to upgrade"? I dont even see a point in trying to argue with you about it. Not a camera for you and that is fine but for others like me, it offers a LOT over the R2 and that was my all time favorite camera. Although the way you attack it with so little real tests out there, is very odd...

I thought about trying that but is there an issue with warranty when you buy with Greentoe?

Smart business. They know that for all those orders they couldn't fill in the first round some might possibly pick the camera up elsewhere and the hassle of shipping back an SD card might just be what it takes to prevent some of those people from doing so.
