On another note, I'm still marveling at the size of this thing relative to what it is capable of. This is not meant to be any form of scientific size comparison but instead, just a quick idea of what I was working with previously.
Threw in the main 50s I use most often on the Sony. The 28 is in there since it is about the closest lens I have in dimension. The VM 40 (no hood) with the TAP is identical to the length of the 28/2. Although the front filter thread of the 28 is technically smaller (49mm), the overall thickness of the 28 is still greater than the VM. With the hoods on both lenses, the 28 then grows to be noticeably longer.
Lastly, I threw the Canon 35 II in there because it is what I was using before when I wanted a relatively normal FL wider than 50. Needless to say, a compact, high quality fast 40mm (personal sweet spot) is something I've been waiting for a company to make for a long time. Yes, I am aware of the older 40/1.4 but it wasn't quite what I wanted performance-wise (for those of you familiar with the lens).

It's definitely very compact and high IQ John. Which lens on the very left? Is it the 7Artisans 50mm f/1.1?
Yup. That is indeed the 7A. Girthier and heavier/denser feeling than the VM 40 for sure.
It's just one lens and often people start to ask technical questions. In my opinion it's better to stay in this thread for pictures.
But it seems a "Voigtländer official image thread" (like the Batis, Loxia, ... threads) in the Sony forum would be a good idea. There is the 10,12,15,40 and 65 with its fans and I'm sure the 21 and 110 will add some more.

Yep every Voigt thread dies a slow death, but I think there are enough lenses in the hands of users to sustain a thread. It would be nice to see the family of M-mount, E-mount, and DSLR mount lenses represented in one thread.
Ordered another copy for E-mount. Should get within a week. Hopefully this will be better copy than first one.
Waiting for delivery of TAP also. Once I get it, will try M-mount version and compare.

Look forward to the comparison. Glad you where able to find a E mount. Here in the states I’ve been looking for folks with no luck

I think this is global problem now. At least in EU it seems to be the same. I was just lucky, especially taking into account price. I paid 700 EUR for EU legal version with warranty, not even gray market.

Would love to hear your view on the AF using TAP, specifically in low light.

Im convinced. Trying to buy one...no one seems to have a date yet. I added myself to a wait list yesterday...fingers crossed.
The latest Voigtlander lenses' success in sales are hopefully sending a strong message to them and other companies that the full frame E-mount system has big demand even for more specialized lenses such as this one. Hopefully this will push Voigtlander and Zeiss to release many more lenses this year.

It will take some time. So far I ordered only E-mount version. Unclear yet, when I will get TAP. Will order M-version only when will know delivery time for TAP, as I want to keep option to return M-mount version, if I am not satisfied with performance, which limits me with 14 days.
But, to be honest, E-mount version feels so great on camera, that AF setup with M and TAP should show some spectacular performance in order to prefer it
With e-version, it feels that camera and lens a born for each other. Irrational. Maybe only for me.
The only way to know - somebody has to call them and ask
While I fully understand logic behind this, it sucks, even if you don’t go for gray market. With modern dynamic world, 1-2 years from now I will likely live in different country, which means I automatically will loose all service options.
Which kinda makes it senseless even to look for white market products
