Does anybody know why the Z-Version of the Voigt 40mm f1.2 is sold (at least in Europe) significantly cheaper compared to the other versions (E,VM and RF-mount)? Here in Germany it's 770,- vs. 1.000€.
And speaking of differences: the Z-version is also significantly lighter than e.g. the RF-version (315g vs. 400g). Are there any reasons for that?
Maybe it's used as the gateway-drug into Voigtländer lensen for Nikon Z? When I look around it's always out of stock or back-ordered in Sweden and Germany and if one shows up at MPB it's gone in an hour. At least thats my impression. A year ago I went with the APO-Lanthars because I couldnt get a Nokton 40mm without 8 weeks delivery-time.
Edit: Now there are three second hand at MPB, but at a higher price than the list-price....
A bit of landscapey stuff with the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 Z, I love how it captures the atmosphere. I know it is a little off topic as it's shot on nikon, but after looking at all the pages of this thread until I got my very own Voigtlander, I feel like I need to post something here, because this thread convinced me.
I have a question. I recently tried the 40 1.2 on the zf in Z mount. I like the manual focus confirmation features but still used magnified view most of the time for critical focus. I love the images this combination produces.
But... I also own the Leica SL3. Since I'm using mostly magnification for focus I should be able to do the same with the Leica. My question is whether the image quality of the Z mount on the zf will be better than the adapted M mount on the SL3. Anyone have any experience/thoughts?
I would have assumed you would be covered in snow right now! Really like the horse and the cow photos. They have that cool 3d effect the 40 produces so well.
Thank you and Jonas (and the likes from others)!
As you can see on the dates I took those photos last summer and autumn.
This winter has been unusually bad. It has only snowed a few times and then have wind and rain always ruined the look of nature and landscapes, so I have taken very few photos so far.
Now that this lens is out in RF mount (allowing the full range of Canon focus aids, including eye-detect), I am extremely interested. Has anyone who has used this lens also used the Zeiss 50mm 1.4 Planar T* ZF/ZE? Dustin Abbott's review of the CV 40/1.2 says it is reminiscent of that Zeiss, which is now notably less expensive on the used market. Thanks in advance if anyone who has used them both is able to compare them!
My Zeiss 50/1.4 (ZF) has extremely high spherical aberration wide open. Anything shot at 1.4 will call attention to this. Really dreamy. It clears up quickly stopped down. Nice and sharp by f4. The Voigtlander also shows spherical at 1.4, but not as pronounced. Colors and contrast are comparable. If you can get a good price and wide open detail is not important the Zeiss can be a fun lens.
I still have my ZF, but it tends to stay at home. I should take it out for a walk.
