I’ve done a fair bit of research and the internet generally says they’re the same, except for the mount and some physical differences. Same glass and same 8 elements in 6 groups formula.
I just ordered my Z version and will have it tomorrow to shoot on my Zf. I’m a sucker for pre-AI Nikkor lenses and am super excited to get this on my camera!

So I’ve tried searching but haven’t found anything, hence my question here:
What are (if any) the technical and/or practical differences between the 40/1.2 aspherical for E-mount and the 40/1.2 for Z-mount?

I’ve contemplated a Zf and Z system only so I can use a lightweight version of the 40/1.2 with manual focus assist. If my camera can tell me when my CV 40 is focused on the eye, I may not need another lens (hyperbole, but you know what I mean). I wonder if Sony is ever going to introduce a similar feature for the Alpha cameras …
