I met a friend for lunch at the Good Guys National Car Show in Del Mar this morning. Lots of amazing cars, but for some reason my favorite was this old truck. My friend said not to be fooled, the guy who owns it spent 6 figures getting it to look this way. Says it runs like a monster as well.
Difficult light, and background but as always I think the CV 40 f1.2 handled it well.
One of the things I like best about CV 40 1.2 is its multiple personalities. I used it exclusively at the Bombers car show on Saturday for its personality.
Wide open close to the subject it is velvety and glowing. It has an area of sharpness that bleads off smoothly as it blurs the backgrounds. The hamburger tray at the drive-in image below is an example of this.
A few cars over there was this amazing hood ornament. Stopped down to f/56 and it becomes crisp and clean.
Step back at a wide aperture and in is a mix of both. Sharp in the area focus, and soft in the background with a gentle fall off.
In all cases it has great colors, and beautiful rendering.
