I’ve owned a copy of the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 since December 2019. I see on this quite old forum thread people say that this lens suffers from fairly bad focus shift. I have done extensive tests on my copy and I have to say it doesn’t exhibit any focus shift at all.Tried focusing at minimum distance both center and in the corners plus focusing at further distances. Everytime I stop down to a low f stop, the photos look tack sharp. Very bizarre mine behaves differently but quite a welcome bonus though! I don’t usually need to focus wide open and stop down though. If I do, I do it at f2.8 because that’s when the lens gets really sharp and the ghosting at higher f-stops is hard to nail focus. It still retains sharpness when focusing at f1.2 and stopping down.

I agree -- I don't find any noticeable focus shift on my CV 40E either.
I have had it before on other lenses, particularly an early ZE 50/1.4 on Canon body, so I know what focus shift looks like in the extreme.

Good to know I'm not the only one. I originally thought the CV 40E focus shift is just a flaw of this lens so I was very pleasantly surprised to discover mine doesn't suffer from any. And I too know first hand what focus shift looks like.
