I agree. I really dislike the look of the new knurling; the smooth finger holds of the old design feel so nice! Glad to hang onto my original lens. The slightly longer barrel works well enough as a hood for me that I don't find myself using the add-on hood at all either. Might not be the case with the SE.
Because of the great pictures in this thread, I bought it now (especially thanks to Helena and Fred)
Love the colors and the image impression with open aperture.
Nice to see see this lens in use here, because it certainly isn't getting much use with me. The CV 40 has been my casual get together and travel lens, 2 activities that I haven't done since February.
Always a good cooking lens though, here are some pictures from a sushi night at home in February (Yes, it was Valentine's day).

I regret selling my CV 40/1.2 for the SE version and will probably re-purchase the 'classic' version.
The front barrel section that recessed front element has been mostly removed on the SE version. So, if you like to use the lens often without the lens hood, as I do, the classic should have an advantage.

The images are very nice but the shed is beautiful! Well done, it looks like a great place to hang out bug free 😁
Thanks Bruce! We call summer up in the great white north bug season. This year is especially bad with all the rain. Horrendous actually, so pretty pumped to get it done. Thought maybe Murphy would be watching and all the bugs would go away after I was done but they are still around! HA!
