Wifey and I rode our ebikes today around the neighborhood, and the opportunist in me used the chance to torture test some lenses in heavy backlighting.
Voigtlander 40 1.2
Nikon 50 1.4 AIS
And my 7Artisans 28 1.4 just came in. Lovely lens so far.

Interesting effect on the 7artisans 28mm...... I'm not very technical but it looks uncentered. Bottom right hand side of the photo looks way more infocus vs bottom left hand side. Might want to check the centering. It does have nice rendering for sure.

Aw man. I’m hoping it’s just a symptom of the TAP wobble. I’ll try another copy though.
My Grandson stopped by today to show me his new best friend. It is a female Blue Heeler just 9 weeks old, he picked it up two hours before. My Son and he drove down from Montana to San Diego to pick up the dog, and his Grandmother to take back to Montana.
Despite all the fancy landscape and art images we make, these simple snapshots are maybe the best use of our gear.
I shot the CV 40 f1.2 because that was what was mounted on the camera. Sharp, and nice rendering, perfect for just a simple snapshot of family.
Wonderful insights to life there, Helena. 1bwana1, you have the greatest dog right there - smart, tough, unpretentious and loyal. They tend to look like wombats when young, lol.
This one of those lensed you either fall in love with, or find it PIA. For me it has a split personality. Great sharpness stopped down. A wonderful character lens when shot below F2. Always great colors, pop, and rendering.
I have realky bonded with mine. I hope you getcas much enjoyment with yours.

I find it really dependent on distance (to avoid SA) since it does not have FLE. So, at >2m distances, it's very competent even wide open. However, if the subject is closer than 1m, the lens performs better stopped down for the occasions where haze and lower contrast is not desired. Same for the 35/1.2 III and 50/1.2 Nokton lenses.
Obligatory remark that you can always use a weak (<1) diopter lens to improve close-up performance.
Thanks Fred for recommending the Leitz Elpro 4!
I'm using it with the CV50/1.2 and am very happy with the results.
