Alright, so these are comparisons in focal length only. The lighting was terrible because of the time of day, and I didn't want to hold her camera hostage to long.

Thanks! I'm trying to decide which to keep. On one hand, 35m is my bread and butter focal length. On the other, the 40mm just has this je nais sais quoi that reminds me of my torrid love affair with the Nikon 58mm 1.4. That extra bit of compression goes a long way. I'll have to see if I can set up another comparison.

Nice comparison. I have to agree with you because I still have my CV 40mm even though I have always been a 35mm guy.

Great examples - thanks a lot !

And I think that it is a good proof that the 40mm has a longer focal length actually, being around 43mm I heard !

What again is the filter thread size on this lens?

It's odd. I used to always use a filter on my lenses, and often they were the expensive B+W ones. However, when I got this lens shortly after it came out, when I noticed how the front element was fairly recessed, especially when the lens hood was attached, I never got a protecting filter for it. Now, though, I'm thinking that might not have been a good idea. So, thinking of getting one while it's still in good shape (I'm really careful with that lens.)

It's 52mm which is ideal, since most Nikon manual lenses are of that thread size.

It's 58mm as is the cv 4.5/15mm... 52mm is on cv 3.5/21mm...

;-)

Cheers, A.

Thanks, much appreciated 😊

I must admit I am liking what this cv delivers in every aspect of my photography... Don't think there is a lens that could replace it,maybe thesame lens in SE version if it was opticaly identical only in even smaller package...

Cheers, A.

I feel the same about this lens. I find it an enjoyable lens to shoot with because it has such unique character that I think more about my shots. The results are also special due to rendering, and such high optical properties. It lives on my camera these days.

This is awesome thread, and incredibly interesting lens. I've chosen VM mount version to be used on Sony A and Fuji X.

If you ever need to clean the lens, or just curious how awesome is lens mechanics - here 's the disassembly article - Voigtlander 40mm F1.2 Nokton Aspherical lens Leica M mount
