Hi Matt, congrats on the new lens!
The 40/1.2 produces a slightly glow when set to wide open at close distance. (< 7m). If you prefer a more corrected and sharp image at MFD and close distance, stopping it down to f/2-2.5 makes a huge difference. Alternatively you can set the lens to infinity (where it's optimal) while using an achromat close-up lens to maintain close distance.

Thanks for the tips Fred, I just attached it to my a7r and will play through the f-stops today...here's a couple more from yesterday on my a9.
I can't seem to get the exif's to show even though I toggle them on.
A few on my a7r: This is a really fun lens, so glad I picked it up, will be nice when i don't want to lug my 50 Zony with me. (which is usually) Also, it feels like you don't need to process with this lens as much, it's just punchy.
Absolutely love these — especially the last two. What ISO did you capture the last two at? That lighting looks super challenging yet they still came out great.

Thanks much. My apologies. I’m assuming these are mostly viewed on mobile at this point and my view-on-mobile workflow seems to have stripped the EXIF. The next to last was ISO 4000. The last was heavily helped by the two burning ~1200 degree sparklers she was waving just off screen, so ISO 100.
