I bought a ZM 35/1.4 because I was being picky and really wanted something wider than the 43mm CV 40. Played around with it for a bit, tried to get over the field curvature and stiffer focus ring (to be fair, my Loxia 21 is also tighter than the CV) in favor of the wider FoV and microcontrast ... And I couldn't do it. Went on vacation only with the CV and left the ZM at home.
Ive really come to love the relatively flat field of focus, the slightly softer look for portraits, the MFD, and easier movement of the focus ring. The last 2 made a huge difference in quickly getting shots vs fiddling around forever behind the camera.
Guess I'll continue to hold out for an E mount remake of a CV 35/1.7 and the RX1RII as wider alternatives to the trusty CV and continue to work with 43mm.
Here are some pictures of redwoods from Big Trees park in California.

I bought my copy of the CV40 about a month after you made this post - after drooling over the shots in this thread for a good while. I'd say this thread was the main reason I bought it, and it has served me well since.
Bought it in Oslo, and used it for the first time in the Frogner Park, where your shots were made. I hadn't actually seen the shots you posted from Norway before I bought it, only recently saw them after browsing through the thread yet again looking for some inspiration.
Anyways, some shots from the park (and one from the road on the way home):
