Has anyone compared the performance of the 40mm to the older Nokton 35mm 1.2 v2? Curious to use one of the two on an APS-C sensor. Saw a few posts from this lens on a Fuji X-T2, and it performs wonderfully - avoiding the common sensor stack issues of M-mount lenses it seems. TIA
I know a lot of folks ask the question how does it compare to so and so lens. I can count three that are on the same level in this area of focal length that are manual only. But two of them need front filters to correct for field curvature. Curious all thee lenses are M mount. I should also qualify this from 1.2 to F2 as well. Cv 50 1.2, CV 35 1.7 Ultron and Zeiss ZM 35 1.4 but both the latter two need a PCX 5000
If I added a AF lens than the Sony 50 1.4. I know some want to throw Loxia in here but they don’t qualify as fast lenses faster than F2.
Honestly your not going to find better unless I missed one and I excluded Leica here. That’s really the simple answer no other CV lens will be this sharp in these areas and focal lengths

It's probably not that it avoids it, just that you won't see the corners (where most of the the problem exists) on the crop sensor.

Absolutely. Purchased in January, upwards of 80% of my 2018 catalog and I don't see that changing in 2019. Perfect focal length, great for low light, great for abstract, painterly DOF shots and sharp across the frame when I want that. Excellent haptics, great for video, just... I mean, what's not to love?

So, after all this time...
Is the CV 40/1.2 Nokton still a top lens for you?
This thread continues to chip away at my willpower. I tell myself I don't "need" it, and it's only MF, and AF would give me more options for use in theory...but then I see the results, and the size of the thing, and f/1.2, and think "I only have one MF lens, maybe I need another one for practice".
Really glad I didn't get that B&H email some got, I'm guessing I'd have bought it. And I see it's on backorder now, so my guess is even a call in won't help.
