Are they only making one of these per day or something? I've been waiting on backorder for weeks! I hope things clear up soon - I think it would take some pretty great holiday shots.

No kidding! I ended up buying a used one off the forum so I wouldn’t have to wait any longer. Of course it was nice to save a few bucks but I would have happily paid for a new one in stock! Excellent lens at any rate and well worth waiting for.

I missed one on eBay the other day for £630!! Retail is £750 here in the UK. Still angry with myself now!!
One of the features I like about this lens is the hood that attaches to the filter thread, I can just rotate the hood when I use a cpl, without having to remove the hood, adjust the cpl, put the hood back on. It’s so convenient.

It seems to be always back ordered in Australia too. I’d be interested to hear from Juha about availability in Japan.
Can anyone with this lens help me test a weird issue I’m having?
Focus to infinity until you can’t turn the barrel anymore, let the focus meter settle and go away on your camera and then give it a little shake, does it trigger the focus meter?
Mine does and the focus meter jumps up and down from 2m to infinity, the pattern ties to movements of the lens.
Interesting. I realised that there is a profile in C1 now for this lens.
But what is interesting - this profile introduces quite visible pincushion distortion and CA ))))
At least in C1 11.3.1.
Actually I noticed presence of profile, because started to look around, why suddenly, after update of C1 from 11.0, I got distortion on photos with CV 40/1.2.
Finally got around to uploading the "test" images from the 40 when I'd rented it for a week. It's a better landscape lens than I'd given it credit, but it really specializes in wide open. Here's taking it on a hike after some fresh snow in Rocky Mountain National Park.

I've also found the C1 profile for 40/1.2 to be weird and I always switch back to manufacturer profile instead.
Great shots, everyone! I absolutely adore this lens. It just makes my vision for shots come to life and doesn't require me to do much in post. Couldn't be happier with it. I definitely want to get the 65mm APO and the 110mm APO when it is released.
