I am more into buying rather than selling. Although I sold pretty much all my Canon lenses when I did the switch but my Sony gear is close to intact from day one. So, I am the worse kind in that respect .

I'm worse about buying/selling but I never make comments about not ever selling something and then turn around the put it on B&S board .

P.S: No hard feelings, just having fun

Those are really nice.

As far as greens, I found that both the a7 and a7S leaned towards green with just about any lens combo I threw on. Can't speak to the 2nd and 3rd gens, but I think it's system-wide. It's been reported elsewhere, too.

Being the case, I always just default to using the Kelvin and going with +1 on the magenta axis, which seems to fix it. Be interested to hear what others think.

I took my 40/1.2, in place of my much loved Samyang 35/50 combo, for landscape shots on a short hike this weekend. The lens is sharp enough stopped down, once you learn to focus it correctly. I find it has a blue/yellow tint that doesn't do well with PNW greens. I can get some decent colors after PP, but I much prefer the more neutral Samyang 35/1.4 or even the warm 50/1.4 colors to it.

Here is a good example of the greens. It took some work to make them look decent. I also think the Samyang [email protected] would have more

Nothing is sacred when it comes to gear. I love the 40mm it has nothing to do with that, I just think the 50 in this type of lens would suit people shots better. Even though this maybe equal money exchange. It also created a need for a Loxia 35 for my landscape /travel kit. That’s a cost I will now have to eat.

lovely shots, i find all the cv lenses have this color profile. still like it better than the color from canon and pentax lenses. nothing can beat the colors from contax and certain minolta lenses imho.

a few shots with the m-mount version, also in the PNW:

Nice! Count me in as another who is a fan of some of the older older Minolta and Contax (and others) colors. One of the reasons I like the Samyang 35/1.4 is the great colors. Loxias are pretty nice as well

the only samyang i've tried is the 85/1.4, which seems pretty neutral, but not great color wise.

there are a lot of leica lenses with fantastic colors too...

Received the lens from fellow FM member and I'm trying to determine what's the best way to focus with it. Do you guys use focus peaking or magnified view? I tried magnified view and even though I was able to focus better I would lose the framing and couldn't see if the subject has moved.

With peaking, it's easier to frame but I'm finding that it is not 100% reliable as focus does not seem to be at the exact location where it shows specially at f1.2

Edit: I'm using it on A7r3.

Peaking works for with MF in general. Just need to give tune to your liking. Use sharpness settings to fine toon

I usually compose first, then quickly move the focus box to the desire spot, and turn the focus ring (with auto magnification enabled), once in focus, I'll just slam on the shutter button. The trick is when moving the focus spot, you can still check for composition before magnification. Then during focusing, stay as still as possible.

Guy, if you liked more the CV 40 than the Loxia 35 as it seemed, why didn't you keep the 40 adding the Zony 55 which gives you a tighter framing plus eye-af... or, alternatively, the CV 65 which you praised so much and would have given you an even tighter framing?

Not the biggest fan of the 55, sharp but never liked the look of the bokeh. Good lens though. Cv 65 to too close to my 85 plus it’s big. I really want small MF lenses with AF glass they are working lenses so I get paid to suffer. lol

My biggest issue is shooting outside of paid work to keep me inspired to actually shoot for myself. I’ve been shooting too long in my life and to go anywhere outside work with cameras is something I have to want to do. Kind of taking your Profession and making it your hobby. Think about that for a second. If you where a banker how would you get inspired to do that off the clock for example. Little extreme sample but it’s about getting me out the door. Golf is my hobby but trying to maintain a 44 year career as your hobby too is kind of tough. Maybe one reason I buy and sell so often is to keep me engaged. People laugh at me about that but try doing this is a challenge. I want some fun lenses .

Hey Sebboh, what editing do you do? Lightroom? Which color profile if you use lightroom? I love your pictures here.

thanks! i use LR and have made a few color/tone curve presets that i like and use as a starting point for processing (the most common ones i used were based off trying to match portra 160, velvia 50, and tri-x film).

i don't use peaking or magnification unless i'm shooting landscape, then i use magnification.

for people i rely on the moire pattern in the evf to determine when things are in focus. you can make this more obvious by turning up the sharpening settings in camera and turning down contrast. it takes some practice, but once you get used to it its great for focusing and composting at the same time.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will check them out. I also need quite a bit of practice as photographing kids with manual focus is turning out to be quite a challenge.

A recent outing to Coney Island. Using the Adobe Color profiles instead of the Camera Matching ones to keep the character of the lens. Can't figure out which of the last two I like more. Feedback appreciated! (Is this the right place?)

Perhaps not the right lens for running kids but with practice you will be able to get many keepers!
