Just got my personal copy. Quick question for everyone: Where is the '40mm F 1.2' marking on the front of the lens for you? My review sample had that lettering perfectly centered at the top, but the one I got it's at around 11 o'clock, and looking online, it seems to just be randomly placed....which I think is interesting. Seems my review copy was either purposely centered after taking the front ring off, by LensRentals, or it just happened to be one of the random copies that had it in that position to begin with. I would have thought Voigtlander would standardize where that ring goes, but apparently not. My 35mm f/1.4 has the lens info at around 10 O'clock on that lens.
BTW...so glad to have this lens back in my hands..

The electronics in this lens I bought from another member broke on me last week during my trip. When the lens is focused closer to infinity, the aperture is stuck/displayed in the camera on f1.2 at every aperture. When it's focused close to MFD, the aperture displays correctly. The weird thing is that the camera doesn't meter properly when I try to take a picture in the former situation and it just flashes and never takes the picture. I made it work by not securing the lens completely on the camera so I could take pictures but it just wouldn't transmit EXIF info.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to disable the electronics? I called CameraQuest and was told that only the original dealer would be able to take it in for repairs, which means I'm SOL if the seller who I bought from can't get it for me...

With the lens attached to the camera, and me looking at the lens, the marking is at 4:00 -5:00 o'clock position.
Keep the pictures coming everyone. I no longer have my A9 and now go RX1R full time but every now and then, I drop by to see the gorgeous pictures taken with this lens. 😄
I scotch taped over the lens contacts, this disables annoying pop-up distance scale and lets you change aperture while in focus magnify. You'll lose exif, and shutter priority though. Obviously, do it carefully. chinoamigo wrote:

Thanks for the reply.. I just talked to Photo Village (Voigtlander importer) and they said they would have to send it to Japan for repair . I'm considering just selling it (obviously letting people know about this issue) instead of getting it repaired b/c I won't know the repair price until the lens is returned fixed. What would you guys think would be a fair price for it?
Do you have the M-version and added the EXIF manually?
Thanks!
No, it's the FE Version (Yes, they are manually focussed ). Maybe it's a German version? I processed these pictures with Capture One 11 only and it shows the same name for the lens profile:

Perhaps it's related to C1? Do you have Lightroom to see how it's shown there? I would love to see a ARW file if you could share.

There is no specific lens profile available in LR and the metadata shows the same name for the ARW-file. But if I import it from the card with lightroom it shows your version of the name. Therefore it's C1 that label it different (or German-like).
Optically is there a difference between the FE and M version of the lens?
My preference would be to use the TAP to autofocus the 40/1.2 lens.
Any issues with that approach?

K-H.
The M-version will induce field curvature since it was designed for the thinner sensor stack. Other than that, they should have similar characteristics.

Weird mine does not say that in C1 11. It must be a German version
