Thanks Guy, just got my lens as you know. Was planning on using my Lee Big/Little Stopper on it but it
doesn’t appear to have a thread to attach it. The breakthrough ND sounds great if you can explain how it attaches.
It screws in like a regular filter. I just asked them.
Do you guys think the recently announced 50/1.2 in Leica M mount would also be made in the E-mount version? What if that lens is even better than this 40/1.2?
The next version is always potentially better and improved from previous version.. but today you can shoot with the available 40/1.2, what tomorrow will bring no one knows.
Does the MF automatically activate with the FE mount as they do with the Loxias?

Thanks for the question. The short answer is you’re better off getting the lens mount for the camera you’ll shoot on, so if you’re shooting Sony, get the FE mount version.
The M is a bit smaller, but the E is still a reasonable sized lens. The E actually has a few benefits over the M, shorter minimum focus, EXIF and optimized IQ for the Sony stack.
Why we adapt? I wonder that myself sometimes, but basically if you don’t already know why you want to adapt something, get one of the many, excellent native lenses.

Thanks! With this functionality I have no issues with MF I just don't like the 2 step process with non FE mounts.
Hi Charles, I received mine a few days ago. MF is really easy with the auto-magnification feature. If you don’t want to recompose, you bring the AF point to anywhere in the viewfinder/monitor and as soon as you turn the MF ring, that actual portion is magnified for easy focusing. Yes, just like the Loxia. I am enjoying the rendition and optical quality of this lens tremendously.

Thanks Joshua This just makes using MF so easy on the A7's
I tried VM 40 1.2 M-mount with texhart on A7iii. It can use AFC+eye focus, it really faster and great in AF. Also it can make the lens to use Marco with 0.3mm. The lens really nice to me.
A few from my first time out with my new Voigtlander Noxton 40mm 1.2 E-Mount. Cross post from the Sony FE Images thread. Really enjoying this lens so far!
