Jim, I like Loxia 35 - one of the best rendering styles of any lens (on apertures it works well). But as I have ZM 2/35 (+Kolari v2 +3000mm front lens) I feel no need for Loxia 35 as ZM 2/35 is ~1/3 stop better in my use, I would gain only EXIF-info, which would be nice, but not worth the effort for selling etc... Also I hate 35mm focal length; all bad features of wide angle, but it also doesn't have longer lens benefits - this field of view and features coming with it just don't fit to my "artistic" "eye".
What I really hoped from this thread topic's lens was to be "long" 35mm, with which I maybe could survive from FOV point of view. It's said somewhere on this thread that it's actually 43mm,and I'm fine fine G45, which is 46mm lens = high change I would be able to tolerate the FOV. If we finally would get availability in Europe I could order one copy just to try it. I'm thinking that maybe I could shoot the difficult boke scenes with Loxia 25&85 and therefore avoid the pitfall of CV 1.2/40 rendering and just use it in forest scenes where it most likely would work:
1) scenes w/ high ratio between subject and background distances + easy homogeneous backgrounds [these scenes usually are easy to post process with masks are easy to draw vs. complex multi-distance boke/transferzone areas which are NOT easy to draw]
2) far distance boke shots
3) landscapes and "all sharp non-landscape distance shots"
It's only 1000EUR or so, would be easy to test it if there would be actual availability.
Damn, how difficult it can be to make simple yes or no decision Please post more photos with close-up lens and make my decision easier, or harder...
Don't. Most awful lens on top of universe unless you only shoot landscapes or all your boke scenes are shoot with very simple backgrounds. Boke will pretty damn awful in most of your scenes (and mine). Also focus plane is not as nice as it's with your Loxia 35, I can't see any reason why you would use FE 2.8/35 instead of Loxia 35. I wrote something way back in FE-thread beginning, I hope link works as with forum archiving linking has become nightmare: link.
Although both achromats, they differ in strength.
The Elpro 4 has +0.76 diopter and the Marumi +3. With the latter, the lens will be able to focus from 0.35m until 0.5m while being at 1m and infinity respectively. (So, optimal range for the lens)
With the Leica achromat, the range is favorable for environment portraits where 1.25m will be at lens' infinity.
I just got off the phone with Rosie at Photo Village. She is so nice!
They have received a shipment of twenty E mount CV 40/1.2s this morning and they are shipping them all out today. i am one of the lucky ones.
She said it was OK for me to share this news. I hope that if you've ordered, that you're on the list. Guy recommended that I order through them as they are a distributor. Thanks Guy!
I honestly can't remember being more excited about a new lens and that includes the 300/2.8L I bought a few years ago! Thanks for the great posts over the past months!

Thank you zhangyue.
I sold my Nokton. Partly as I think an A7(x) and the 40/1.2 is too much to carry all day and partly as I don't like the images beyond an aspect of of ratio of 1:1 or just a little wider.
Sometimes the Nokton works wonderfully but I had too much problems with the transition zone and the borders. I didn't feel happy with it as the only lens to carry around. If I am to carry that much it better be a very good all-rounder. I'm back to the RX1 for now. Of course, what the Nokton does well it does very well!
i actually like that it gets squirrelly towards the corners at large aperture, but then I like the glow up close at wide aperture too. for my taste this is a great all-rounder – has character and unique abilities wide open but is very sharp and contrasty across the frame stopped down to f/2.8. bokeh could be a little better stopped down, but it's better than most lenses. like michael, i think i probably prefer the 50 lux asph, but i need to verify that.
anyway, some wide open flower shots at or below mfd (with the helicoid adapter):
How's the vignette / color shift on the UT with the M mount version?

I just picked up my new A7III and e-mount Voigtlander 40/1.2 from Photo Village and the combo is amazing. The folks over there are great, took good care of me during the ordering process, and called me as soon as my equipment arrived. I've been a customer of theirs since I was a photo student at FIT years ago when they had their original shop across the street. I highly recommend them if you're on the East Coast.

Do they charge NY sale tax? The shopping cart doesn't show any sale tax other than $20 shipping charges. Thanks.
When is the 40 supposed to arrive at stores, anyone heard? B&H told me a month ago and assured me they would ship the following Monday or Tuesday when I ordered. I had a much older order with Adorama and once they said absolutely they would have it and ship it next day, I cancelled my order with Adorama. Have dealt with B&H for years but feel deceived on this.

I got an email from [email protected] (west coast distributor), their shipment will arrive on the week of 5/14. I suggest to email them and see if they can put you in the next shippment.
