Downtown today in our little burg there was a demonstration by the Nazis and a larger counterdemonstration by normal folk. I played the photojournalist and tried to get some decent shots of the latter. The former were protected by a very large number of police, and I wasn't able to get close enough for photos.

It's really difficult to get a technically good shot from this lens, but I still liked this one.

And this one with my 85mm which I had a little bit of a scare with. I was getting blurry photos while out and about with it. I thought it might be my eyesight or my technique, or maybe the lens was "going bad," but in the end it turned out my Shake Reduction system was set to 400mm. Made that correction, and everything was fine again.

My new computer arrived today, so I spent a bunch of time unpacking, putting together, and setting things up. Still had time for a walkabout, much to the delight of the dog.
Here's today's catch.

It rained on us today. I took the cameras, but didn't get them out much. Here's today's catch.

I took quite a few photos today with a couple of lenses I have been a little cool on lately. Both surprised me for the better this evening.

I had assessed this lens in the past as not being very good under these conditions. The white filaments on top of this dandelion seedhead are sharply rendered and they are off-center, so I've changed my assessment.

Here's another lens I've had issues with wide open. It is difficult to focus due to thin DOF, but I nailed it a few times today so again my assessment has been changed. Both lenses require careful focusing and attention to proper exposure and technique.

I knew it was going to be a bad day when I discovered that I left my SD card at home. Luckily, the other one was still in the slot. Then I discovered that I had my shake reduction set to 200 instead of 50 (again!). Turns out it didn't matter as this was the only picture I took the whole day. The first couple were blurred, no doubt due to miscalibrated shake reduction, but this one was sufficiently crisp enough to keep.
We went to Mainz for the monthly trip to the hairdresser, so I tootled around the farmers' market while that was going on. I took quite a load of photos today. I uploaded 28, not my usual half-dozen or so.
Here's today's catch.

The lens is better than this photo shows. Nailing focus for a moving target is difficult!
