Hi David, did you do the conversion yourself? If so did you glew in the inner black shade?
I ask because i have this lens and a few other Leica R lenses.

Hi Michiel,
Yes, I did the conversion myself. Glueing back the internal plastic shade was a bit fiddly, however I managed. As you know it's a great lens. It was the only lens longer than 75mm that I used on a major holiday last year, including that shot from Antarctica. Whilst it would have been easier with an AF lens, the Pentax focus-confirm-before-shoot option did enable many captures.
K1 astro tracer proved to be very useful in this situation being able to let the FA31 I was using to go over the '500' rule and expose the sky for 40s at ISO3200, f2.8
Its hard to imagine that just a few years ago, one would laugh off at the prospect that a China company would be making lenses that might challenge the traditional Japanese and German makers.
I too laughed at the lens when I first read about the brands.
Laowa, I played with the name and called it "Lao Ya", in local dialect meaning lousy.
But looks like I got to take my word back on the lens.
12mm, but smaller than my Samyang 14.
Lower distortion
Seemly better flare tolerance than the Samyang and Irix.
Better edges than my Voigtlander 12/4.5 II
Large enough image circle for Pentax sensor shift composition adjustment and also as a 1.5x crop shift lens with a Kipon adapter on my A7.
