This doesn't sound like just a slip up in the system at B&H. It appears to be a systemic problem which in today's world there is no room for. I'd like to see not only reimbursement of wages but also a hefty punitive fine slapped onto B&H.

is there a place for that practice anywhere at all?
I wonder how many "stores" we've done business with that have similar issues that just don't get the press? our ignorance is the panacea from such things I guess.
this begs the question: do you really know who you are dealing with?

Unfortunately, in today's world, it is hard to know the real story. I have seen first hand government facilitated regulatory shakedowns from aggrieved plaintiffs that are extremely costly and totally unfounded. Despite the outcome in this case, I have no cause to believe the allegations.

Given the choices out there where I can purchase equipment...even a hint of descrimination at B&H is enough cause for me to shop elsewhere. You might have no cause to believe the allegations...but B&H has sure not made their innocent case...and let's not forget this is not the first time they were taken to court.
Personally I'd rather err on the wrong side here as discrimination is a very ugly topic for me.

I don't know the details, and, I am not a lawyer, but......
The fact that they settled this time, and at least one time before, MAY HAVE made them a target for this and future allegations. The pattern you see MAY not be due to what you are thinking off.

Or this pattern we are seeing IS exactly the problem I'm talking about.

Small company moving to big company and unfortunately the processes did not move with them.....they didn't have the training and awareness for their managers and supervisors. They didn't have a robust method of getting senior managers involved when issues are brought forward. While we don't want to see this happen it does and usually not before they get a whack on their wallet. By then it is too late and the damage (and subsequently the payments) will be forthcoming.
Until you have been in a company that did training yearly to avoid these kinds of problems...you have no clue.
While we are pleased to conclude the case, B&H rejects the OFCCP’s allegations ... B&H categorically denies the allegations

Just guessing here, but that could include people who applied for a job and felt they were turned down due to discrimination...
That's happened. Here's one example, from the judge who dismissed a suit against us:
“… plaintiff’s failure-to-promote claims are devoid of factual support.” He also said, " Plaintiff Cushnie was not qualified for the position of salesperson. Plaintiff Cushnie's written employment application reflects that Ms. Cushnie had minimal work experience, consisting solely of work as a dental assistant. In addition, Ms. Cushnie's eight-month tenure as a B&H cashier yielded at least six reported customer complaints. In this instance, Ms. Cushnie's lack of sales experience, lack of technical knowledge and deficient customer relations skills disqualified her from becoming a member of B&H Foto's sales staff."

Again, bottom line B&H has a history of these actions going back many years.
A history of accusations would be more accurate, but since there have only been two voluntary consent agreements I'm not sure that qualifies as "history." YMMV

I just don't see any accusations at your competition so my money goes there. Hope others follow!
Then maybe you haven't looked? There's at least one article online regarding a competitor of ours which is located in NYC and there have been several regarding Amazon. If you cannot find them I think perhaps you're not looking hard enough. :-)
