p.4 #2 · Sony FE 12-24mm f/4 G with 77mm regular filters!
I've been using 77mm ND filters (3,6 and 10 stop) in the field and it works great with the 12-24/4. It's very easy to attach them and they don't take much space in my bag. I highly recommend them as an alternative to big adapters (150mm filters) for this lens. The only downside is that I can't use it from 12-13mm for NDs. (and 12-15mm for the C-POL). I'm doing image averaging this if I want a ND effect.

It is designed to fix in a shape that sandwiches the lens.
Using an optional adapter ring makes it possible to use it for a lens aperture of 95 mm or less. It is a specification that listens to the opinion of the person who uses it to the utmost.
________________
So, it looks like a custom 150mm filter holder for the 12-24/4 G that can also be used with optional adapter rings for other lenses.

Fred, I think that is a 150mm holder. I can't read it, but the photos appear to show 150mm.
I don't think there is any way to mount a 100 without some vignetting at the short end. I tried it with my 100mm kit hand holding a few filters at the end of the hood, and they become visible somewhere around 15-16mm if I recall correctly.
That one will then make it a 'generic' for any lens without a built-in hood.
This is one of the key points about the Nisi that I don't like; You can't remove the specialized adapter for the 12-24 and use it on other lenses easily. I worked out a way to do it, but it isn't necessarily ideal.

The mention of 95mm is because of the collar size and it appears that you can remove the 12-24 dedicated adapter and replace it with another one:

Yes, good point. If carrying 150mm filters, we better use them on all our lenses.
I will continue using my 77mm ND filters and for the 12-13mm range, image averaging instead.

Nice
Is Yosemite near your home? You seem to be there so often.

Well, after carefully studying Nisi holder, I found that this particular one holds only two 150mm filter, and does not come with a built in polariser unlike Nisi V5 for 100mm filter.

You're talking about the NiSi12-2 holder? It can be bought with the NiSi CPL.
From the Australian Importers site and the one I have.
Having said that I still don't like the holder system as not only do I have to carry another holder for *normal* lenses I also need step up rings because they don't make a single holder and different adaptor ring sizes that fit the same holder
On my old Lee 100mm system I just leave the rings on and use the Lee push on caps. Then it takes a few seconds to attach the filters holder. It works so well. I'd like something a bit less fiddly in the 150mm. Might look into Lee's 150mm system but it's near impossible to see in Oz without buying it on-line and we don't have the easy returns like the US.

Hi Fred,
i found this thread using Google and i'm very interested to use my 77mm Filter with the 12-24 Lens.
I've read that you use a Breakthrough Filter which is about 0,8" (2,032mm) in width.
The filter i want to use is just a Hoya with 0,15748" (4mm) width - not including the screw thread. Do you think this will work too?
What width of the felt tape would you suggest? I could buy 6mm or 8mm.

No you need 77mm to start with and you need filter only with felt or gaffers tape to fit inside the hood area before the lens zooms out to hit the glass. Or you go with the Nisi dedicated 150mm filter setup
