Beautiful wildlife photography! Perfect lighting! Great story/loon documentation.
I see behavioral similarities between your loons and the ones here.
Your entire set here is exciting and most interesting.
Looking forward to updates on your loon family's progress throughout this summer.

The 2017 nest here in Maine I was watching failed mid-June. I believe it was due to the loons' choices/biology and not people. I just accepted it and wrote it up. Next year will add new knowledge and reasons usually become clearer with time.
Thanks Robert. Nature is a tricky thing to predict and understand. I watched 4 Red-neck grebe nests last year all with eggs in them and none of them produced a single offspring that I witnessed. This year one of those couples failed again and I didn't even find the other ones at the old nest sites.

Fabulous images Geoff! Really caught the bond and a delicate part of nature.
#3 for me is quite special, all the attention goes to the little one with the parent turning in the 'away' position but you did great to catch that eye too, that shot rocks
#7 is sweet
#8 I like it but the bottom area OOF does tend to take away from the eye impact, this could be one to crop out just up to the sharp area of feathering and make it a stunning head shot
Great set, you got my vote!
Karl
Thanks Karl, much appreciated, thanks for the vote of confidence.

Super duper set, Geoff! You had to know that #1 was a special image the moment you pressed the shutter! One of your best sets, ever. Voted
Thanks Mitesh, I worked on that one with the specific shot in mind but was hoping I had green background which didn't happen. Thanks for the vote....I see you have been voting for other loon threads lately also

Great sequences. I saw the mom tuck them under the wing for the first time this year.
Thanks Mike. I've only shot loons for two years but I didn't see the wing tuck last year either. I guess they probably only do it for a week or so.
