I've deleted most of the waterfall images with shorter exposure times. But I can give you one example from the Svartifoss:
I prefer the 20 sec. image, but I undestand that this decision is purely based on my personal taste as you wrote and other people will prefer the 0.4 sec or 1/100 sec. images.
