p.4 #1 · Tokina Firin 20mm F2 . I took one for the team
Those sunstars look 'blah' even at f/8 which is not uncommon for lenses with 9-blades.
You will probably need to step down to f/16 or even f/22 for more defined points.
It's hard to match the sunstar rendering from Zeiss (ZM, Loxia) and Voigtlander lenses.

The sunstar coming off that lens is not close to that generated by the Loxia; they less defined. Actually, the GM 24-70mm lens at f/8 produces decent sunstars that seem to be better than the Firin does at the same aperture. Just an observation here. Frankly for astro purposes, this factor doesn't play a role. The sharpness coming off this lens seems to be just fine though.

Agree sunstars are okay. Loxia does have better or lets say more defined. Would you agree

Well the nice thing is i have the VC 12 and the ZM 25 on either side of it. But yea like to see them better here.

Lets move on to Big Bronco. Its very early in the morning maybe a hour before i normally do this test so the light is very warm. I just increased exposure and vignetting to balance things out. I did do a separate vignetting test and color we will address later here. FYI i have tested every lens i ever bought, rented or borrowed on this wall. I know it all to well. Its boring but it speaks volumes on resolution and corners, mid frame and center sharpness. i will load these raws as well. Im already impressed here.
Quick shot of the full wall. Distortion looks pretty good here but again this is a old building so its not definitive

Landscape shooters F5.6 is the ticket completely across the board. Astro I think 2.8 would be pretty good but lets do the infinity test coming up as it maybe better at infinity

Nice work Guy and much appreciated! While the lens looks great, I think I'll be sticking with my Loxia 21. While the Firin is a bit faster, I like the overall rendering of the Loxia. And, at f/2.8 I can easily use the lens for Astro. I need to do something similar with my new Rokinon 14/2.4. It's been a bit too cold . . .
