p.2 #8 · Got really lucky and that on the last day
Congrats on the good fortune and images. In comparison, I saw them twice at Savegre but only in very poor early light, minimum ISO of 16000. Awesome to see, but the photo opp was not so good.

Luck is the confluence of planning, timing and skill.
I love the mix of colors in the first yet the head position bugs me. The second is a terrific compostion Jason

Hi Morris, thank you for your your feedback and I agree with you. I took 4 shots in total while the quetzal was perching on that branch. I posted the best one already and I thought this was the second best but actually, after you mentioned it there was another pose that I should have posted instead of this one. Oh, well.

Leon, let's do it then! We will come up with some more details as the time gets closer.

Love the first as it highlights the red breast and the tail to full effect.
If you would have missed the flight you would have been stuck with another day in quetzal country; not all that bad a trade off.

I am glad you like the images, Jim and thank you for stopping by and for your kind words! Yes, they tend to appear early in the morning and at shaded locations.

Thank you for stopping by and for your kind feedback, Don! I like the idea of getting stuck another day in quetzal country alright but the problem with that was, we had to drive and fight the traffic first to find out that we had missed our flight.....At the end though, it was all good and we arrived in time to even grab a sandwich at the airport before boarding.

Rob, thank you very much! Enjoy your next trip back to CR! Yes, I can imagine how much you are looking forward to that trip. I am planning of going back in November.
