WOW, thks for this post & magnificent images!! Best trip I ever had was with the FM bunch back in, I believe Dec of 2011. Have not been able to get back since. Thought I would make it this year, but didn't work out. Age keeps adding up & the health keeps taking away,. Gonna try again this coming winter. Again thks for the post of really impressive images. Brings back memories (and longings )
Thanks Granpa Leon! FWIW I am a grandpa too. Was that trip that you went arranged by Conrad Tan? Funny thing was, it was me who invited Conrad to Bosque that year, but he then made an announcement on the Board and literally invited everyone to go! The group eventually got too big for me for my taste (20+ people) and I ended up not going. But that turned out to be a great trip and there were lots of amazing photos, especially from Conrad.

, yep that was the one. It was great for me just to meet so many like minded folks. A bunch of really great people. I'm very anxious to get back. Also it is a fact that next to Grand kids Grandpas are the best

Super work Bobby,... you've done an amazing job capturing the amazing light that bathes the refuge.
When were you there?
I spent three amazing days in Bosque over the Christmas holiday... Other than the 27th, the crowds were low and the flocks were still pretty large.

Thanks Bruce! We were there around mid January. Lots of snow geese but only a handful of Sandies in the Bosque ponds - but huge numbers of them in Bernado. Low photographer count too, but weather wasn't good - overcast most of the time and it rained a whole day which left us with just 2 of the 3 days we were there.

Bobby...excellent images.
I live north of Albuquerque, and try to go down to Bosque Del Apache at least once per year, esp to be there at sunset, when the birds typically take off from the fields enmasse so as to take refuge from predators in the nearby ponds as darkness settles in.
I wonder if I may dare add a cell-phone video which helps to capture the cacophony of the birds when they take off enmasse:

Thank you, Bill! I have absolutely no problem with you posting a video of the blast-off. Pretty cool stuff!
