Sure, it is all about what makes the individual photographer happy. What really makes me happy is getting shots with a D500 & 200-500mm + 1.4x TC ($3,200) that look as good or better than some taken with a D850 & 800mm ($19,000+).
Not to mention not having to lug all that extra weight around, with or without a tripod & Wimberley.
Handheld at 1/250. Not quite 800mm, but makes me happy.

through your time with canon and now with nikon, i have seen you probably waste the same amount of money in getting gear just to turn around and sell it a short time later

I think these are all great to see...and I'm the guy that sold his 800mm not because of performance, but because I just wasn't going to get the use out of it that I needed to justify (in my mind anyway) keeping it..So I sold it so someone else on here could really take full advantage of it. I'm happy, and I think the buyer is as well.

So what? Since I enjoy changing gear, I have not wasted any money. Now if I had bought and sold a Canon 800mm and a Nikon 800mm, that would have been a waste of money.
And my D500 gives me more keepers than my 7D2 did.

I'm pretty sure that any member is free to critique images taken with any lens or body when posted on a gear forum.
It would also be pretty lame if one is only going to post positive comments all the time. The truth is not always positive. Gear reviews should always state both positive and negative comments.
Supposedly, a gear forum, which this forum is, is for the discussion and critique of Nikon gear, and that includes images taken with such gear. If you want to simply post images and not be open to critique, either positive or negative, there are the presentation forums. JMO

Thanks, Marcelo! I sometimes question my sanity when I think about what I've spent on gear! But questioning my sanity isn't an uncommon thing for me...
And then I come back with shots like this one of Felicia the grizzly and I'm happy whether I'm insane or not :

The Owls are wild and at distance, glad you enjoyed, we are using 800 or 600 plus extenders as they are rarely close enough, also people will be out in the open watching so they rarely come close, slow this winter for Short Eared Owls, I have yet to see one😂 glad you enjoyed them😊 Howard.
