This shot comes from a place I accidentally discovered in Wyoming. I was simply driving around (and in front of Grand Tetons) and noticed this place. It was very cold, way below zero Celsius yet this small pond didn't freeze. I liked the stillness of the water, reflection of the place, and the sun piercing through branches of distant trees.
I know the most dominant tree is cut off but it was so tall I couldn't fit it. I probably could have done some cloning to remove its upper part and substitute it with sky/clouds, but that would effect the reflection so after some thinking I decided to leave the way it was...
Greg,
What a great find!
The mood, & feel & the contrasting cold & the sunburst are strong elements.
I think the tall tree is just fine as the rest of the comp is strong
I paid no attention to the tree until you mentioned it. No problem as far as I'm concerned. Looks like a good candidate for a Christmas card even though it looks just as cold as you described.
