Much of the border of the Mississippi River going through the Cities is technically National Park (the National Park agency has it on their website that the drone rules don't apply except for the tiny bit of land they actually own). In the past I've had DJI block me from taking off there because of that. Supposedly they've fixed it, but I always do an unlock just in case.
Most is Class G, but there are some LAANC areas, and you have to watch for TFR's from the sporting events.
The other issue is that there is a lot of land that is managed by the Minneapolis Park board, and they have a no drone take off or landing policy, so you often have to stand in the street or across the street. Not sure what they'd do, but I've had park officers watch me to make sure I stay off their property.

Thanks for that background. It is kind of funny that you merely need to stand across the street and then allowed to fly.
