Any trip to Iceland has to include waterfalls (plenty of them - pretty easy), rainbows (again, pretty easy if there is sun near the waterfall) and the northern lights (ok, a bit harder to find).
Taken on the only clear night during a 2 1/2 week trip around the island, I was able to combine the three - Godafoss - with the northern lights - and a moon bow from the near full moon. A pretty cool scene that I was fortunate to witness.
I think perhaps I was the unicorn. Given it has been 40 years since I've seen the northern lights - and this was the first "moonbow" I've seen - I felt very fortunate to not only see it - but to capture it. I honestly didn't see the moonbow until after it showed up in my camera's screen. Needless to say - I was even more excited - and started burning mega pixels as fast as I could.
Very nice image. Viewers should be advised to click on the image to see it stand out with FM's dark framing. Although the triple catch could be attributed to luck, I think it is more the result of taking more time to explore Iceland, having more patience, having the skill for making a difficult exposure, making a fine composition, and being prepared for the opportunity.
