Yes, this was indeed in Germany. The event took place at the Sri-Kamadchi-Ampal-Tempel in the city of Hamm (specifically in the Hamm-Uentrop district) in North Rhine-Westphalia.
To give a bit more context: it’s the largest Hindu temple in Germany and the largest South Indian-style temple in continental Europe. The annual temple festival is a massive event, drawing between 10,000 and 20,000 visitors from all over Europe. The highlight is a wonderfully colorful procession where a statue of the goddess is pulled around the temple in a chariot to bless the city.
A special detail about this year's festival (July 26, 2026) is that Germany's Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, also visited the celebration on that very day.
