Thanks Joshua, I’ll take it out along with the 35 1.8 this weekend (the other lens im considering upgrading) and perhaps post an image illustrating. If it’s as simple as sending it in for adjustment I’d be very happy, better yet torturous unlikely situations I’ve been unlucky with.
I think it's also the case that the Batis 85 has better flare resistance / contrast than the Sony 85 in heavily backlit situations, which are not necessarily uncommon in portrait photography. Happy to be corrected if I'm mistaken on that.
But yes, for the most part, the differences between the two lenses are subtle.
Impressive and inspiring images! They definitely show case what these lenses can do although I am also aware that the person behind the camera is equally if not more important.
Keep up your excellent work,
Joshua

OMG! When I lived in Melbourne, Australia we used to visit rock formations on the southern coast called The Twelve Apostles. Well, there is now a different number of apostles! An arch rather like that one collapsed, leaving several sightseers stranded on the wrong side, in the midst of a swirling ocean. It could have just as easily collapsed when they were walking across it, as we had done ourselves many times. After thousands of years, no-one expected such a sudden change in such a mighty structure.
I discovered today that the Haoge LH-S24B lens hood for the Sony 24mm f1.4 GM lens fits perfectly, with a bit of pushing, on the Batis 25mm. Without the hood cap attached, it adds about 70g to the weight of the lens.
I can't stand petal hoods, so big and ugly.

Forgot to add: it does not work on the 40mm, for some reason. Very, very tight.
It probably could work, but a lot of force needs to be applied.
