Contrast reduced to -15 in LR; Depths increased to +100 to the max. The contrast is still strong and has a very pleasant effect on me. The colors look authentic.
Above all, I didn't have to lug around a huge weight unnecessarily during the 2 1/2 hour forest tour with the B135 (614 grams). Especially since I have other things to carry.
So far I've only been able to take a few Akita pictures with the B135. Wife and daughter are in Turkey for 2 weeks. I'm the nanny for our Akita Inu, a kind of community of destiny.
I wasn't so sure I needed 135mm at all. But I kept thinking about completing my batis set with the apo. When there were rumors that Zeiss was no longer making lenses and the price of the B135 was low, I couldn't resist.
There are enough reviews. Colors, very strong contrasts and micro-contrasts, sharpness, Zeiss pop and everything else I like Batis typically very much. All this with an excellent weather seal and a weight of only 614 grams.
With its focal length, of course, it cannot be used as universally as the Batis 40/2 CF. Let's see how often and in what form it will be used in the future. The focal length is great for dog pictures. The image compression also makes portraits look a little more spectacular with 135mm than with 85mm.
Great shot Tim. I am loving my new Batis 135. I might have cropped this shot to make the fog a bigger proportion of the whole scene, so there is more tension between the fog and the area that is still clear. (Is it all right to make such comments on this forum? I don't mean to be presumptuous. It was just a thought that crossed my mind while I was viewing. )
I'll give it a shot at some point, have a lot of photos to go through. You can tell I'm more of a wide angle shooter......it was a majestic view and I shot it with the 2 longest lenses I had on me.
It was breathtaking....partially because I'm afraid of heights and this little sandy path on the side of of the slope had my hands shaking.
