I am glad that this thread was brought back alive - those are some amazing images from Øyvind and Mike, the most recent posters! Six weeks of traversing the country, huh, Mike? You certainly brought back tons of images home...

Thanks Joshua, many more than this of course, above just a few images that I happened to end up looking through a Batis; Bethlehem Steel, Santa Fe, Taos, Eastern Sierras, Yosemite and the Badlands. I got home last Tuesday. largely before the massive storms that have been hitting the midwest (and more). In all I only had 2 days of bad travel (heavy rain).
Wanted to shoot only the Batis 40, middle of a hot day, harsh direct blah light
A lot of times I can not convince the other half to get up early for sunrise or wait for sunsets, lol
I am considering a Batis 18. I wonder if it might be possible to see some images of how the lens renders before any major post-processing to increase saturation and contrast especially? I don't need to see raws , but even a small-sized jpg would do. Just want to see how the natural rendering of the lens looks like.
Also, are the corners good from f/2.8 on? If not, what apertures before things start looking good there?

Here's a RAW converted to JPEG, no alterations at all. See a few posts up for the edited version. Corners are good wide open. Extremely sharp around f5.6 - f8. My only complaint, which is very minor, is that the correction profile in Lightroom sort of overcorrects the vignette, which can lead to some noise in the corners. Easily fixed by adjusting the profile sliders.
