What cases are you fellow batis 18 owners using? I'm losing my mind and money trying to find the perfect one online. Best one I've found so far is still like 3" taller than it needs to be, so lots of dead space.

I do not have a separate/individual case for that lens. In the last outing to the Grand Canyon, among others, I took a Think Tank "Hubba Hubba Hiney" pack and mounted that lens on the camera with the lens hood in the shooting condition in the center compartment. To the right, I stored my Zeiss Batis 85mm in a vertical position and to the left, I stored two lenses, one over the other, Sony FE 55mm f/1.8 and Sony FE 28mm f/2.0. Both smaller lenses had their lens hood in the shooting position as well. I used a Think Tank belt and I had a Spider holster attached to it. While at location, I carried the camera in a camera holster via a pin. The whole shebang was fairly light and compact. I carried a small table tripod that can easily be setup on the railing/signs instead of a regular tripod.
Here are links to the items I used but you can use similar items:
Thank you, that doesn't seem to include any lens cases. I actually just picked up the ProTactic 120 off B&H the other day for $25. If any more bags show up at the house I will probably end up single.
I mean, inception style, lens-inside a case-inside my bag. I'm set on bags, but the lens' awkward shape/size lends it to wanting to wander around my bags (peak design 30L + peak design sling). I'm really hoping to find a lens case with a belt attachment/etc. I just still haven't found, what I'm looking for...
I guess this Pearstone one I found is about as close as I'm going to get. With the hood on, the lens fits in it almost perfectly. It's just a bit too large to fit inside my PD sling, so it's kind of a pain. I will start using the exterior attachment more.

dammit, i am going to buy another bag.
this thing looks kinda perfect. Thank you.
The more bags the merrier !
BTW, I didn't specify in my post above that the camera with the Batis 18mm with the hood in the shooting position was stored face down, like the way you had the lens in the picture you posted above, just with the camera on the top of it. You can grab the camera/lens easily and the fit was just fine that way. Although I do have heavier duty TT belts but for that particular trip, I used my Think Tank Thin Skin belt since that belt is thin enough, enabling me to clip the camera holster anywhere on the belt.
I don't have an individual case for either the 18 or 25 (Why are they SO big?), but I use a Lowepro 190 AW bag for the A7 with 5 lenses. One of those is the tiny Zony FE 35/2.8, if Zeiss do introduce a Batis 35/2, as I really do hope they will, I'll need to upsize. I like Lowepro bags especially for their waterproof cover.

Wow! As pretty as the canyon is, the sky and mist are what make this image outstanding.
Thank you very much, Scott! I am still counting my blessings to be able to witness the wonder of weather phenomenon there.
Here is another image a few minutes later; it is a cropped image looking the next Powell point, it is about 0.5 mile straight line from Hopi. Although there were only 3 people left at Hopi, apparently there were also handful at Powell point. Standing on the ledge on the right side of the image, this lady was using her cell phone to take picture of the rain/clouds/mist lit by the sun in the deeper part of the canyon. I took a few panoramic shots of the scene, including this spectator in another set of frames.
Batis 18 on A7 (Some classic A7 sensor reflections too! I'm waiting for A7RII prices to come down, before changing.)
I really love this lens, and so nearly didn't get it, thinking it was too wide for my style of photography!
Loved using my Batis lenses again in Burning Man earlier this fall. The dust sealing is superb. Funny thing, I just picked up a Batis 25/2 before jumping to plane to get to Black Rock City with a thought that this focal length might be nice for capturing the atmosphere inside the Thunderdome. With a lot of patience with people moving in front of me ruining 98% of the shots, I think it did ok.
Batis 85 on A7 At first, I thought the lit distance scale was a gimmick, but I soon came to appreciate how useful it could be, e.g. as a check in MF and when focus bracketing. Frosty Wharfedale by Tim Ball, on Flickr Wharfedale Barn by Tim Ball, on Flickr Silver and gold by Tim Ball, on Flickr
