here's 4 from the b85 that i sold for the 85GM (when i was still a 35/85 combo - now i'm b25 / 50 / b135)
i remember that trip to the beach which was the first time i traveled with the b85 and how light it felt - and how much fun that made taking it everywhere - i just never fell in love with certain backgrounds with it, but in so many places, it's an absolutely fantastic lens.
the first shot is where it's background rendering was *extreme* to the point that i really loved it, however, most of the time that i didn't like it, it was just 'nervous'. but in 60% or more of the places i'd take it (more urban than foliage), the backgrounds were great and it's sharpness and contrast were perfect.
Great images! I have both 85/1.4GM and Batis 85/1.8.. I love both equally and use them for different applications. As you wrote, the Batis 85 is great for travel.
side note - what does everyone use as a lens case?
I picked up a lowepro 9x13cm lens case - it's just a bit too small with the hood to use regularly imo. I'm hoping to find something slightly bigger, without going huge.
Anyone using the 18mm with a polarizer and/or filter holder? I am looking into the best solution to combine a polarizer and ND grads for this lens without vignetting, without breaking the bank. Wondering if the firecrest system works well on it or not.
Lots of great images here, which inspired me to try the 25mm. I rented a Batis 25mm for a test spin and like it. The colors, bokeh, and contrast are fantastic, but I am using it pretty much as a manual focus lens. I may try the loxia 21mm and see how I like that one. Both the shots are in Central Park and hand blended for exposure.
I was very fortunate to be able to witness a nature's light show one morning at the Grand Canyon National Park. Approximately 100 people showed up at the Hopi Point for sunrise that turned out to be disappointing as it was cloudy. Only 3 people left and we were treated with an incredible light show. The sun rose above the horizon and it penetrates the rain clouds partly, like a spot light shining on various canyon surfaces. It rained mostly in the canyon itself and the moisture in the air was lit by the sun. I also took a few other and two panoramic shots using a non-Batis lens of the event. What a show!
In the Cellarium at Fountains Abbey. (It's the most complete part of the ruined Abbey...now a World Heritage Site).
Whilst I was making the 5sec exposure, (with the camera pressed to the ground, making use of a puddle for reflections), two kids in bright pink wellies dashed past ;o)
